The first Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche Lodro Thaye compiled the Secret Red Avalokiteshvara practice at Palpung monastery, from Termas of Ratna Lingpa and Chakme.

Since then, every year from the 5th day of the fourth lunar month for eleven days, the Secret Red Avalokiteshvara has been held at Palpung, with pujas in seven different Shrine halls simultaneously. For example: Vajrakilaya puja, Vajrasattva puja, Tsedrup etc.

This year the 'Secret Red Avalakiteshvara practice' is being held for third time at Sherabling, led by His Eminess 4th Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, Bo Gangkar Rinpoche, Gyalton Rinpoche and with the participation of Tulkus, Retreat Lamas, Monks, Nuns, Foreigners and Locals. It is being held from August 9th to 19th August 2007. As in Palpung there are seven pujas beings held simultaneously in different Shrine halls in the monastery.
