On the afternoon of September 29th, 2009 Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa kindly gave the Bodhisattva vow to the current Mahamudra retreatants in the main shrine hall of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat.

This unbroken lineage comes from Shantideva and is unique in its aspiration and practice aspects. The Bodhisattva vow is traditionally taken before one begins the main Mahamudra foundation practices (Ngondro) such as Prostration & Refuge. The purpose of taking the Bodhisattva vow before the Mahamudra Ocean of Certainty practices is to insure that the foundation practices are not merely of benefit to the practitioner but to all sentient beings, so that ultimately they too will become Enlightened just as the Buddha did.
