After four and half months of teaching and transmission, the Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa auspiciously completed the transmission of the Ninth Karmapa’s Mahamudra Ocean of Certainty yesterday, January 10, 2010, at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat. The Mahamudra Ocean of Certainty text is the most precise and elaborate Mahamudra text from among three compiled by the Ninth Gyalwang Karmapa, Wangchuk Dorje.

At the end of the teaching Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa made a dedication, joined by all Rinpoches and Sangha, with the Song (Gur) "Four Pillars" by Marpa Lotsawa. A "gur" is a spiritual song spontaneously composed by a vajrayana practitioner. It usually has nine syllables per line.

In response to Jestun Milarepa’s prophetic dream of four pillars, his Vajradhara, Lord Marpa sang its interpretation predicting the spread of the Mahamudra Lineage.

Following this song (gur) Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa explained that the intention of the dedication must be profound and sincere. Thus he dedicated the merit of giving this transmission and of receiving this transmission, the merit of the Rinpoches and Khenpos and Sangha who requested this transmission, including the Venerable Thutop Rinpoche, he dedicated the work of the Monastery Staff and workers in various areas for the past four and half months time of this transmission, as well as the merit of devoted sponsors during this transmission. He explained that the dedication of all the merit of every single person involved should be purely dedicated so that all universes remain pure and healthy homes for beings and that all the mother sentient beings become responsible owners of these homes without diluting their healthy outer and inner environments. Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa then dedicated so that all mother sentient beings reach the level of Mahamudra and become one with Buddha Vajradhara. He dedicated so that all the Rinpoches, Khenpos and all the Sangha who received the transmission this time would become like the four pillars of Marpa and preserve and uphold the most profound lineage of Mahamudra for the benefit of all mother sentient beings.
