For many years Venerable Tulku Ogyen Tobgyal Rinpoche has requested that Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa perform the grand 10 day Drubchen of Buddha Amitayu at his monastery, Tibetan camp, in Bir, Himachal Pradesh. As a result at 8:00 am on the morning of May 21st, 2012 Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa arrived in Bir. He was welcomed a traditional tea ceremony by Venerable Zigar Kongtrul Rinpoche and Tulku Ogyen Tobgyal Rinpoche and by his Sangha. Then at 9:30 am the first day of the grand Buddha Amitayu Drubchen began.

On May 30th, 2012, the last day of the ten days grand Drubchen of Buddha Amitayus took place at at Tsering Jong Monastery at Bir, H.P India. At the request of the Venerable Ogyen Topgyal Rinpoche this day was headed by Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa along with one hundred monks from Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat. The following day Tai Situpa Rinpcohe bestowed the Red Vajra Crown ceremony and gave the Buddha Amitayus empowerment to the public along with a profound Dharma teaching. As per the wish of its host this grand Drubchen was conducted to increase the longevity of all great masters of Buddha dharma and for the benefit of limitless sentient beings so that they be liberated from the suffering of Samsara and achieve the ultimate realization of Buddhahood.
