On Monday 16th July 2012 the official opening of Palpung Sherabling Health and Relief Voluntary Organization was held in the main courtyard of Palpung Sherabling with 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa hosting His Excellency Shri Raja Virbhadra Singh as honored Chief Guest during the auspicious proceedings.

Many respected Indian Officials and Authorities were represented, along with attendance by representatives from the Tibetan Government in Exile, local monasteries, media, Sangha and lay community.

The young monks from Riglam Kyedtsel School performed a variety of delightful traditional cultural songs and dances from the local Himachal Pradesh region and beyond.

Since the year 2000, 'Eye Camps' have been organized throughout the remote areas of Himachal Pradesh on a yearly basis by the Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh Charitable Registered Society.

On this auspicious occasion, 'Eye Camp' facilities were extended to all visitors, Sangha and lay people in the form of a free eye check for over 250 participants. Fifteen of these individuals require further treatment and operations, with their expenses met by the Society.

In appreciation of their generosity and support, the Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh Charitable Society presented the Palampur Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda with an award.

In recognition of his tireless endeavors and dedication in his service to the community, the Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh Charitable Registered Society bestowed an award to Dr. Jatinder Kumar.

The 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa addressed the attendees with his enlightened words of wisdom.

The event concluded with His Excellency Shri Raja Virbhadra Singh speaking to the gathering in Hindi and English, ending with the aspiration that the learned monks of Palpung Sherabling Monastery will make a difference for not only India, but the entire world.
