Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat celebrated the triple holy events of the Lord Buddha from the 3-5 May 2015 for three days.

2559 years ago, in the year of the Iron monkey 8th day of the month of veshaka, Prince Siddharth was born in the grove of Lumbini. 35 years after in the year of the wooden horse on the night of the 15th of the veshaka month, during the waxing moon Prince Siddharth proceeded to Bodhgaya and sat under the sacred Bodhi tree. First he pacified and subjugated all the maras and entered into unwavering samadhi then at dawn he attained complete enlightenment and became the Buddha Shakyamuni. When Buddha Shakyamuni reached the age of 81 in the middle of the sal forest of Kushi Nagar at full waxing moon of the 15th of Veshaka month he last recline on his last seat. Here he gave his teaching to Mahakassayapa concluding with saying that all conditioned things are impermanent and pronounced it will be the last teachings of Tathagata and then he entered into parinirvana.


The teaching of the Lord Buddha systematically reminds us to respect all spiritual paths because all of them will guide the followers to higher wisdom and higher state of Accomplishment.

To commemorate and celebrate the special occasions of Buddha's activity, it is the vision of Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, who commanded us to uphold the occasion of Vaishakha at Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat in the Land of Arya Bhumi.

From the 3-5 May 2015, Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat commemorated and celebrated the three great activities of Lord Buddha, beginning on the fifteenth day of Vaishakkha according to the Palpung Tradition of the Tantra Calender.

For the three days of celebration, ritual prayers were conducted based on the tradition of the Theravada, Mahayana and Tantrayana which were lead by Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and followed by all the venerable Sangha with elaborate offerings to Buddha. At the same time, teachings and transmissions on the three vehicles of Buddha's teachings were given by Guru Vajradhara. Other events forming part of the celebration include discussion debates and presentation of write-up by students from various educational departments of Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat.

On the first day of the celebration, there were various honorable chief guests and special guests who participated from the Himachal Government of India and central Tibetan administration and neighboring monasteries and the local community. Guests on the first day include Mr. Sudhir Sharma (Urban Development and Housing Town, Country Planning Minister of Himachal Government), Mr. Pema Chhinjor (Minister of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration), Mr Kishori Lal (Local Member of legislative Assembly), His Eminence Drubwang Dorzong Rinpoche of Drukpa Kagyu lineage.

Special Guests on the second day is Mr. Shanta Kumar (Former Chief Minister of Himachal State, Former Union Minister of Central Government and Member of Parliament).

All the Honorable guests spoke profoundly about the life and activity of Lord Buddha and activities of Guru Vajradhara.


The three days commemorating the triple holy events of Lord Buddha at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat was great blessing through ceremonies and transmissions from Guru Vajradhara, discussions and debates on various subjects of Buddhas teachings by students and honorable chief guest who shared their wisdom on this holy event.

This great event will continue every year at Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat according to the Palpung calendar of Tantra to receive the limitless blessing and wisdom of Lord Buddha to benefit all sentient beings and bring active peace and harmony to the world until everyone reaches the final destination of the ultimate enlightenment that is Buddhahood.
