Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat celebrated the triple holy events of the Lord Buddha from the 21st to 23rd May 2016 for three days.

2560 years ago, in the year of the Iron monkey 8th day of the month of Veshaka Month, Prince Siddharth was born in the grove of Lumbini. 35 years after in the year of the wooden horse on the night of the 15th of the veshaka month, during the waxing moon Prince Siddharth proceeded to Bodhgaya and sat under the sacred Bodhi tree. First he pacified and subjugated all the maras and entered into unwavering samadhi then at dawn he attained complete enlightenment and became the Buddha Shakyamuni. When Buddha Shakyamuni reached the age of 81 in the middle of the sal forest of Kushi Nagar at full waxing moon of the 15th of Veshaka month he last recline on his last seat. Here he gave his teaching to Mahakassayapa concluding with saying that all conditioned things are impermanent and pronounced it will be the last teachings of Tathagata and then he entered into parinirvana.


The teaching of the Lord Buddha systematically reminds us to respect all spiritual paths because all of them will guide the followers to higher wisdom and higher state of Accomplishment.

To commemorate and celebrate the special occasions of Buddha's activities, it is the vision of Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, who commanded us to uphold the occasion of Vaishakha at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat in the Land of Arya Bhumi. From the 21st to 23rd May 2016, Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat commemorated and celebrated the three great activities of The Lord Buddha, beginning on the fifteenth day of Vaishakkha month according to the Palpung Tradition of the Kalachakra Calendar.

For the three days of celebration, ritual prayers were conducted based on the tradition of the Theravada, Mahayana and Tantrayana (Vajrayana), which were led by Tulkus, Khenpos, Lamas, Nuns and followed by all the venerable Sangha with elaborate offerings to Buddha. At the same time, teachings and transmissions on the three vehicles of Buddha's teachings were given by Khenpos. Other events of the celebration include discussion debates and presentation by students from various educational departments of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat.

These great events will continue every year at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat according to the Palpung kalachakra calendar to receive the limitless blessing and wisdom of Lord Buddha to benefit all sentient beings and prevail active peace and harmony in the world until everyone reaches the final destination of the ultimate enlightenment that is Buddha hood.
