The State Government of Sikkim organized the preliminary rituals for the groundbreaking ceremony for the statue of Lhatsun Chenpo, which were performed by H.E. Once those were completed, on February 19, 2024, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa arrived at Simik where the statue will be built. There, H.H. was welcomed by an elaborate procession formed by the state's Chief Minister HCM Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay and Madam Krishna Rai, the Parliament Speaker, and the Sangha Minister, along with other government officials, Kyabje Gonjang Rinpoche, Drubpon Dechen Rinpoche and other Rinpoches, Simik Sang Ngag Dudul Ling's monastic community, and numerous lay devotees.

Guru Vajradhara then presided over the main ceremony of the groundbreaking ritual and laid the foundation for the Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo Centre. Following that, the Sangha Minister gave a speech about the significance of this ceremony and delivered a vote of thanks. The groundbreaking ceremony was auspiciously concluded with an offering of a mandala and representations of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind by the honourable Chief Minister, Sangha Minister, and other high-level government officials.
