The second year of the "Discovering the Buddha Within" transmission titled "Awakened Heart," was taught over the period of four days from March 22 to 25, 2024, by His Eminence Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat's Institute of Buddhist Studies to an international audience of students from all over the world. The program was organized by the Palpung Institute of Buddhist Studies.

This year's curriculum began with training in the Tonglen practice of sending happiness and taking suffering based on the outlook of first equalizing self and others and then cherishing others more than oneself. This was followed by various steps of training the mind in unbiased loving kindness and impartial compassion, as well as the bodhicitta of aspiration and application. Based on the two truths, Rinpoche then defined the way things appear and the way things are, and continued by explaining how to ascertain the absence of self through the reasoning of investigating the perception of the self. Rinpoche then elucidated the unity of emptiness and interdependence. Following that, he taught the essence, classification, and function of each of the six paramitas, how samsara is created through the twelve links of interdependent origination, and how to utilize kleshas and suffering as the path.

All these were taught in a clear and comprehensible manner, supported by stories and examples. The understanding was deepened through guided meditations. The meaning was then further clarified through question-and-answer sessions, discussions, and sharing experiences.
