In response the requests of several devoted disciples and numerous other students, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa bestowed teachings on sacred dohas of Lord Gampopa Daö Shönnu, the life-pillar of the Dagpo Kagyu teachings and founder of the unified Kadampa-Mahamudra tradition. This transmission took place over six days, from October 3 to 8, 2025, at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat. The event, organized by the Palpung Institute of Buddhist Studies, was attended by disciples from many countries around the world.
The transmission focused on selected spontaneous vajra songs of realization from "The Ocean of Kagyu Masters' Dohas." These songs express the profound view and meditative experiences that arose from the vast expanse of Lord Gampopa's wisdom, sung with the melody of his sacred vajra speech.
Unraveling the poetic intricacies and revealing the hidden meaning of these songs, Guru Vajradhara illuminated various aspects of Lord Gampopa's life, including his handsome countenance, intellectual brilliance, profound renunciation, steadfast practice, pure devotion, and vast enlightened activities. Guru Vajradhara explained how Lord Gampopa offered his meditative experiences and realizations to Jetsün Milarepa, and how Jetsün Milarepa, in turn, interpreted the meaning of Gampopa's song describing his dream.
The teachings encompassed several crucial points, including recognizing all phenomena as manifestations of mind and understanding the illusory nature of diverse appearances. Guru Vajradhara also provided clear guidance on the integration of view, meditation, and conduct, as well as the ground, path, and fruition. These profound instructions were presented in a manner that deeply inspired faith and devotion among the fortunate disciples.
The transmission concluded auspiciously with Guru Vajradhara conferring the empowerment based on Lord Gampopa's guru yoga.
