In accordance with the aspirations and vision of Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, the Palpung Buddhist Study and Practice Centre in Kinnaur has successfully concluded its annual program of introducing Buddhism to the local communities.
Following this tradition, the program commenced in September of this year and continued for several weeks. Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat's Khenpo Pema traveled to numerous villages in Himachal Pradesh including Chango, Nako, Namgia, and Sumra in Kinnaur, as well as Hurling, Gue, and Lari in Spiti, where he offered Buddhist teachings and meditation instructions to devoted and interested local residents.
The comprehensive program encompassed introductions to Buddhism, meditation instructions on calm abiding, guided pilgrimages to sacred sites blessed by past masters, and explanations of their spiritual significance. Throughout these activities, the participants engaged in an integrated approach of study, contemplation, and meditation, ensuring that their understanding of Buddhism was both intellectual and experiential.
