October 21, 2008 marked the first day of the Grand Kalachakra Empowerment which began with the portion of the empowerment known as the acceptance of disciples into the mandala of Kalachakra.

October the preparatory empowerment of Kalachakra was attended by about four thousand devotees. Once gathered the devotees spent October 23 & 24 attending the two day ceremony in which the Sand Mandala of Kalachakra is built up. On 25-26 the main Empowerment of Kalachakra began with elaborate Ganachakra and at end each person received the blessing of Kalachakra Mandala.

On 28-29 Extraordinary Kalachakra Supreme Empowerment , Kalachakra Lord of the Lord Vajra Acharya Great Empowerment and Kalachakra Great Lord Empowerment was given only to His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul, His Eminence Sangya Nyenpa and His Eminence Kalu Rinpoche.

On 30th, the remaining Kalachakra Mandala of sand was dissolved into a River by Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa who was joined by Their Eminences. The Oral transmissions, Empowerments and Instructions of the entire five treasuries by the 1st Jamgon Lodro Thaye and transmitted by Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat were completed with utterly limitless blessing for all the Rinpoches, Lamas, monks , nuns and lay devotees from all over the world over these past three years without any interruption or obstacle. May this limitless blessing benefit limitless sentient beings to achieve Buddhahood.
