Yearly Palpung tradition of the Grand Guru Rinpoche Puja in year 2008 | Photos
The yearly Palpung tradition of the Grand Guru Rinpoche Puja began this year on 29/11/2008 and finished on 6/12/2008 at Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat. This tradition is of Kagyu School origin in general and is more specifically tied to Palpung Thubten Choekhor Ling Monastic Seat. It was established by the 8th Kenting Tai Situ Choekyi Jungney who is the founder of the Palpung Congregation. From 7-8 of December, for two days the grand Guru Rinpoche ritual dance was performed at Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat. The Vajradhara Kenting Tai Situpa with his principle guest, the Venerable Lama Choephel Dzodpa from the Central Goverment of India viewed this grand ceremonial lama dance. Venerable Lama Choephel Dzodpa is currently a member of the National Commission for Minorities within the Government of India. Local Indian authorities from Baijnath also attended the festivities on this very special day and received the blessings of the Guru Rinpoche ritual dances. The benefit of the Grand Guru Rinpoche Puja and its ritual dances are actually limitless, but in summary:
1-Anyone who is involved in the ritual practice and dance of Guru Rinpoche as well as those who have the opportunity to take the blessing of it will no longer have any relative need to be born in lower realms.
2- In this life many unnecessary obstacles will be removed.
3- The environment required to promote world peace and harmony will be brought about through the blessing of Guru Rinpoche.
4- and ultimately everyone who can make some connection with this kind of grand ceremony of Guru Rinpoche will establish the seed for Enlightment to benefit all sentient beings and bring peace in all universes.
Between the ritual lama dances there were also activities such as Fusion drumming and music offerings as well as physical arts by the school monks of Palpung Sherab Ling. At the end of this very auspicious day, after all the ritual lama dances, a local artist from the North Indian region of Chango, Kinnor performed a dance offering.
