The morning of June 26th at 8:00 a.m., celebrations got underway at Gyuto Monastery where all the necessary arrangements for this elaborate function were taken care of by Gyuto monastery. The Abbot of Gyuto and many other senior Rinpoches and Khenpos, lamas and devotees from various countries joined in the celebration. The 12th Kenting Tai Situpa also participated on this auspicious day. Later that day, in the afternoon, His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa and Kenting Tai Situpa traveled together to visit the Tilokpur Nunnery of Karma Kagyu Lineage. They were greeted by an elaborate welcome ceremony arranged by the nuns of Tilokpur with the help of some of the monks of Palpung Sherabling. After noon on 2.00.clock the 23rd Birthday Celebration of His Holiness began and the 12th Kenting Tai Situpa made elaborate Manadala offerings to His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa followed by offerings from the administration of Palpung Sherabling. After that the Tilokpur Nunnery also made a Mandala offering to His Holiness followed by a traditional Tea with saffron rice, which was served to all the monks, nuns and devotees made their offerings. That same afternoon from 3pm to 5pm His Holiness gave a teaching on how the Guru-Disciple relation manifests and how all lineage masters of the past have received the teaching from gurus. From 5:30 onward, a western style birthday celebration was held in the courtyard of Tilokpur Nunnery where His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa, with Kenting Tai Situpa, sat on a chair and cut the birthday-cake, this was followed by some songs sung by devotees from Taiwan. In the evening an elaborate dinner was served to the Sangha and guests. The day ended as a most joyful and blessed occasion for Tilokpur Nunnery and devotees having delighted in the presence of His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa and Kenting Tai Situpa for such a momentous occasion.
