The 12th Kenting Tai Situpa and the monks and nuns of Palpung Sherabling always encourage people to be mindful and aware of preserving and caring for the trees; the water and the environment as a whole; to keep them clean and healthy and so forth. The environment and all living beings within it are connected to each other and as such not taking care of the environment is the same as not taking care of your self.

In the past at Palpung Sherabling there have been new building projects for which there was no choice but to remove some trees. However, Kenting Tai Situpa has always advised that wherever possible the cutting of trees is to be avoided. At the same time Kenting Tai Situpa encourages everyone to plant more trees wherever possible.

So in this spirit, Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh foundation took that advice from Kenting Tai Situpa very seriously. Beginning on July 6th, 2008 the process of planting one thousand juniper trees began at Palpung Sherabling, dedicated to World Peace as well as for the beautification and healing of the environment.

Starting with a holy blessing and purification puja headed by the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, he planted first tree himself, followed by all the young monks of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat who each planted a tree. In this way the planting of the full one thousand trees will be completed within three days. The Palpung Munishasan Society offered refreshments to all participants. In future, Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh Society, Upper Bhattu plans to more plant trees as well as medicinal herbs and fruit trees wherever there is space.
