August 7th
On August 7th, 2008 representatives of the Chango District came to Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat to escort the Kenting Tai Situpa and his entourage from Sherabling to Rampur Town. This marked the beginning of Kenting Tai Situpa’s visit to the villages of Kinnaur, as requested by the villages and their local Monasteries.
August 8th
On the first night of travel, August 7th, the group spent the night at State Guest house in Rampur. The following morning, August 8th, they left from Rampur toward Janki Post, where they were greeted by close to thirty vehicles carrying representatives from Chango and Pooh Villages. Kenting Tai Situpa was escorted to the Pooh Village Monastery where he received an elaborate welcome ceremony performed by the Lamas and local devotes.
On the same day, Kenting Tai Situpa performed the Red Vajra Crown Blessing as well as the Amitayus Longlife Empowerment followed by very profound public teachings. Just before Kenting Tai Situpa sat on the throne the clouds gathered and a very pleasant rain shower began. This was first rain of the year and all the local devotees and especially farmers were delighted and felt great blessing, as the rain will be of tremendous benefit for their harvest this season.
Kenting Tai Situpa encouraged the local people to join together to recite one hundred million Mantra (MANI DUNGDRUB) of the Buddha of Compassion in the years to come. Kenting Tai Situpa also gave them a donation to contribute to upholding this effort. The lay people and Sangha of Pooh Village were highly appreciative and committed to following Kenting Tai Situpa's instructions to help bring both individual and World peace.
August 9th
On the morning of August 9th Kenting Tai Situpa left Pooh Village to visit Nako Village. Many representatives from different villages came to Pooh to escort the Kenting Tai Situpa to Nako Village’s new Monastery. Once at the Nako Monastery a traditional Tea Ceremony was held, followed by Body, Speech and Mind offerings and then by traditional local dance performances.
That afternoon, Kenting Tai Situpa performed the Red Vajra Crown Blessing followed by the Amitayus Long life Empowerment and very profound public teachings. Kenting Tai Situpa also encouraged to the local people of Nako and Marling villages to follow the same advice he gave to Pooh Village; to collectively recite one hundred million Mantras (MANI DUNGDRUB) of the Buddha of Compassion for the years to come. Once again he provided a donation to contribute to upholding this effort. The people and Sangha of Marling and Nako Villages were very happy to receive these instructions and were committed to following Kenting Tai Situpa’s instructions to help bring about inner and World peace.
August 10th
On the morning of the 10th, Kenting Tai Situpa departed Nako Village to visit Marling in order to consecrate the newly constructed Monastery. Once at the monastery a traditional Tea Ceremony was performed. Afterwards, around 50 vehicles escorted Kenting Tai Situpa and his entourage to Chango where they visited Palpung Kamtsang Thubten Oser Rabgye Ling Monastery welcomed by an elaborate reception ceremony headed by Lama Sodtsok with the Nuns of Monastery, the children of the local school and the women’s association. When Kenting Tai Situpa arrived at Chango, the entire area was suddenly surrounded the most beautiful rainbows. Kenting Tai Situpa sat on the throne and traditional, Body, Speech and Mind offerings were made by the Monastery, Members of the Palpung Tharlam Choetsok as well as by different organizations of Chango Village and a large number of devotees who came for blessings.
On the morning of August 11th Kenting Tai Situpa visited the roof of the Kamtsang Thubten Oser Rabgye ling Monastery. Again the most beautiful rainbows encircled the area around the Monastery even though the weather was completely clear and without rain.
August 11th-12th
From the 11-12 of August, Kenting Tai Situpa led the one hundred million Chenrezik Mantra (MANI DUNGDRUB) recitation, in which several thousand people participated. At the same time Kenting Tai Situpa gave two days of teaching on the 37 Practices of a Boddhisattva. Kenting Tai Situpa had also encouraged the one hundred million Mantra recitations at this village monastery four years ago. Now in it’s fifth year, several thousand devotees in the area are participating for the development of individual and world peace.
August 13th
On the morning of August 13th, Kenting Tai Situpa conferred the Red Vajra Crown Blessing, the Amitayus Long Life empowerment and some very profound spiritual guidance to several thousand devotees. That afternoon local performers offered traditional dances.
August 14th
On the morning of August 14th, Kenting Tai Situpa went on horseback to visit Tashi Thong Yang Monastery where the Monastery committee offered a Mandala offering in an elaborate ceremony. Kenting Tai Situpa blessed the Monastery and conducted Sang Pujas and gave a teaching to the monastic community. Once again magnificent rainbows appeared around the Monastery while Kenting Tai Situpa was there.
On the way back, Kenting Tai Situpa also visited the Lang (Chango) Monastery where he consecrated the shrine and the entire monastery.
During this eight-day trip, the Tibetan and Western Medical Team from the Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh, followed Kenting Tai Situpa to all these villages and provided free treatment for the sick as well as free medicine.
August 15th
On the 15th of August, Kenting Tai Situpa left Chango headed toward Rampur Town where he rested at the State Guest house. The following day he completed the journey returning to Palpung Sherabling Monastic. This eight-day tour by Kenting Tai Situpa is dedicated to the limitless benefit to all the sentient beings, for world peace and for the people of Kinuar, Himachal Pradseh, India.
