Every year on 4th day of the 6th lunar month is Chokor Duchen, the first day that Lord Buddha Shakya Muni turned the Wheel of Dharma following his Enlightenment. In 2009, this auspicious day fell on July 25 in the western calendar. The Palpung Lungrig Jampal Ling Buddhist College students celebrated this precious day by lighting thousands of butter lamps as an offering. They also spent many hours that same evening debating between classes on various subjects and engaging in traditional dharma discussions presented by various individuals, thus commemorating the first Wheel of Lord Buddha's teaching.

On this day, all the Sangha of Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Institution joined in this auspicious occasion at Palpung Sherab Ling Shedra compound.
