On the 7th of April, 2010, six years of group Mahamudra transmissions were completed. Over that time a large group of international students has been very fortunate in receiving the transmission of the 9th Karmapa’s Ocean of Certainty teaching and practice instructions directly from Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa. They have, each year for 6 years running, practiced with utmost sincere devotion, developed compassion and visited Sherabling Monastic Seat to receive these transmissions. Additionally, several students who had received the prerequisite teachings from Tai Situpa on other occasions also joined in. They have now all received instructions up to the point right before the introduction to the nature of mind.

Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa clearly conveyed that all individuals who have received the transmission of the Mahamudra Ocean Certainty from him throughout these past six years or on different occasions must practice individually until they are themselves convinced of having had a glimpse of recognition of the nature of mind. In that way the remaining practice and teaching chapters of the Mahamudra Ocean of Certainty will continue on an individual basis at an appropriate time.

Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa also told students that all those having received this transmission have a responsibility to uphold the Mahamudra lineage and to become Mahamudra masters for the benefit all sentient beings, to liberate them from the suffering of Samsara and to realize the level of Buddha Vajradhara. He added that this can only be achieved through genuine practice with true realization and will be totally ineffective if there is any ego-trip.

To conclude this sixth year transmission, Tai Situpa Rinpoche bestowed the blessing of the Red Vajra Crown and the Empowerment of the great yogi Milarepa on the morning of April 8th, 2010. With it he included more exquisitely profound advice.

That same evening, there was a Ganacharkra offering with devotional chanting followed by songs and performances from several Mahamudra students as well as the school monks of Palpung Sherab Ling Monastic Seat, in celebration of the completion of the transmission. Then at the close of the festivities, Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa chanted a dedication prayer he had composed about the pointing out the nature of mind. It conveyed a profound sense of blessing and peace over the entire group.
