In the afternoon of 13 March 2014, Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa visited the Maitreya Project in Bodhgaya at the request of Project Director of Maitreya Project Bodhgaya. Guru Vajradhara and an assembly of sangha including many tulkus, khenpos and lamas were warmly welcomed by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and the staff at the Maitreya Project. A short puja was conducted in the shrine room followed by blessing and purification prayers in front of the 24 feet statue of Maitreya Buddha. In the same afternoon, Guru Vajradhara visited Dharmaranya, the holy site where Prince Siddhartha spent six years living as an ascetic before leaving this lifestyle to meditate under the Bodhi tree where he awoke to enlightenment. Guru Vajradhara conducted prayers with his retinue of sangha members at this holy place. Before returning to Tergar monastery, Guru Vajradhara visited the Kagyu Monlam Pavilion where he walked onto the main stage and offered a khata to the Buddha Shakyamuni statue there.
