Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat has two retreat centers - one for monks and one for nuns. In the past, six sets of traditional three years retreat practices of Naropa have been completed in the monks retreat center and seven sets of traditional three years retreat practices of Naropa have been completed in the nuns retreat center.

On the 24th of November 2014, a new group of monks started (seventh set) and nuns (eighth set) entered into retreat. On the morning of that day, the two retreat masters, monks and nuns going into retreat had an audience with Guru Vajradhara Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and received detailed sacred teachings and blessings about how to make the retreat time meaningful doing the practices and how to serve the Buddha, Dharma and all sentient beings after completing the retreat. The groups led by two retreat masters also went to the Mahakala shrine, Tseringma shrine, Tara shrine, Vajrakilaya shrine, Guru Dorje Dolod shrine and the main shrine of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat to get their blessing and made their aspiration prayers before entering the retreat. In the late afternoon, the retreat started auspiciously.
