The grand annual Mahakala ceremony and puja began at Palpung Sherabling Monastic seat on January 30, 2016 in accordance with the lunar calendar on 21st day of the last month of Wood Sheep year according to the Palpung Tibetan calendar. This grand annual Mahakala ceremony is performed to mitigate and remove all the obstacles from the out-going year and generation of fortunate circumstances in the coming New Year. It is to bring in all auspiciousness without any hindrances and obstacles by invoking the blessing of all Dharma protectors for the benefit of all beings and for the protection of the Environment around our world. At the same time these prayers to Lord Mahakala invokes more productive conditions and situations in this Fire-Monkey New Year which begins on 8th February 2016, to enable beings to practice all the virtuous actions that will benefit all sentient being and protect the Environment in which we all live. Ultimately this grand annual Mahakala prayer is performed to assist everyone to reach their final destination which is to become fully awakened with the nectar of primordial wisdom.
