In accordance with his own vision and the prophecy of Kathok Rigzin Tsewang Norbu, the eminent mahapandita, H.H. the 8th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situ Chökyi Jungne, a sun who illuminated the teachings of the Buddha across all traditions, the custodian of Tibetan civilization's jewel treasury, and a prominent advocate of conventional sciences, established the Great Glorious Vajrakilaya Temple at Palpung Thubten Chökhor Ling. He also introduced the practice of the Vajrakilaya drubchen ritual, which has been observed on special occasions ever since. Following the precedent set by previous masters, this tradition of conducting the Vajrakilaya drubchen ritual has been recently reinstated at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat.

Commencing on October 4, 2023, Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche presided over a twelve-day drubchen ritual centered on the mandala of Kilaya Activity deities of the great and glorious Vajrakilaya, regarded as the most profound supreme yidam. This significant practice involved the participation of the monastic seat's tulkus, lamas, khenpos, and acharyas, as well as the entire monastic community, within the main shrine hall of Palpung Sherabling Monastic College.

The participants followed the essential instructions of the gurus, blending them with the ritual tradition of the lineage, and meticulously executing all its components. This included preliminary land consecration, the establishment of outer and inner boundaries, the creation of the mandala and arrangement of its ornaments, in addition to practices involving visualization, meditation, and recitation of the actual sadhana. The ceremony further encompassed the fire puja to achieve the four activities, empowerment, a ritual for attaining the siddhis, the butter lamp prayer, one hundred thousand ganachakra feasts, the smoke offering ritual, and the concluding acts of offerings and praises.
