From November 2 to 6, 2023, His Eminence Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche completed the fifth and final year of the "Moonbeams of Mahamudra" transmission at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat for Dharma students from all over the world. This five-year transmission of the Moonbeams of Mahamudra, a text composed by Dakpo Tashi Namgyal elucidating the stages of Mahamudra practice, was requested and organized by the Palpung Institute of Buddhist Studies.

Integrating the text's quintessential instructions with his own experience, Rinpoche focused this year's teachings on the Mahamudra view, emphasizing its ascertainment through alternating analytical and resting meditation. He stressed the importance of practicing Mahamudra meditation, a union of shamatha and vipashyana, in both formal sessions and the intervals between them. Rinpoche elucidated the development of realizations in the four yogas and identified the point where meditation and post-meditation converge. The teachings extended to eliminating deviations and addressing hindrances, and the means of attaining a breakthrough by recognizing the unborn nature of all phenomena. He taught on integrating experiences into the path and introduced the ordinary mind as the mind's true nature.

Rinpoche concluded this auspicious five-year transmission by dispelling potential misunderstandings of the Moonbeams of Mahamudra treatise. He provided a detailed analysis of challenging points and offered clear, elaborate, and comprehensive instructions and guidance on all aspects of the direct and implicit teachings of the root text.
