The Kagyupa International Monlam Trust extended an invitation to Guru Vajradhara the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa to preside over this year's Kagyu Monlam Chenmo. Guru Vajradhara graciously accepted the invitation, and on January 8, 2024, accompanied by H.E. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, H.E. Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche, and his entourage, he arrived at Gaya Airport. There, he received a warm welcome from the Gaya Airport authorities, the President, General Secretary, and other directors of the International Buddhist Council (IBC) in Bodhgaya, Kyabje Tsoknyi Rinpoche, Drupon Dechen Rinpoche, directors of the Kagyu Monlam Trust, and representatives of the Kagyu Gunchoe organizing committee and Tergar Monastery.

Subsequently, Guru Vajradhara was greeted at Tergar Monastery with ceremonial music played on the roof of the main temple. An elaborate procession, featuring a long line of tulkus, lamas, khenpos, monks, and nuns from various Kagyu monasteries, as well as lay devotees from around the world holding white scarves, flowers, and incense, lined both sides of the road. He was then escorted to the monastery's main temple, where he received offerings of a mandala and the three representations, along with the traditional tea and sweet rice. Upon the completion of the welcome ceremony, Guru Vajradhara retired to his chambers.
