On August 3, 2024, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa visited Druk Dechen Choekhor Ling Monastery, located in the Buntar area of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh, at the invitation of the luminary of the glorious Drukpa lineage, Kyabje Choegon Rinpoche.
Guru Vajradhara was warmly welcomed to the monastery with an elaborate golden procession led by Kyabje Choegon Rinpoche, accompanied by the tulkus, khenpos, and the entire monastic community, as well as a large gathering of lay devotees. Upon his arrival, Guru Vajradhara was escorted to the monastery's main shrine hall, where he lit a butter lamp before the temple's sacred representations.
Once seated on the throne, he was offered a mandala with the three sacred symbols representing the Buddha's body, speech, and mind, followed by the traditional offering of tea and sweet rice.
Guru Vajradhara then bestowed a teaching, beginning with a general exposition on how Buddhism flourished and spread throughout Tibet, highlighting the unique characteristics of each lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He continued with a presentation of the history of his spiritual connection of pure samaya with the previous and present incarnations of Kyabje Choegon Rinpoche. This was followed by a special reading transmission of Maitreya's Aspiration and the Mahamudra Prayer.
Following the teachings, Guru Vajradhara conducted a consecration ceremony for the monastery's temples and sacred representations. The visit concluded with the two masters sharing a meal together, enjoying quality time in relaxed conversation.
