In response the request of a devoted student from Taiwan, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa bestowed teachings on sacred dohas of Lord Marpa the Translator, the charioteer of the Practice Lineage teachings. This transmission spanned six days, from November 4 to 9, 2024, at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat. The event, attended by disciples who had gathered from various countries around the world, was organized by the Palpung Institute of Buddhist Studies.
The transmission focused on selected spontaneous vajra songs of realization from "The Ocean of Kagyu Masters' Dohas," containing songs of profound view and expressions of meditative experiences that arose from Lord Marpa's wisdom expanse, sung with the melody of his sacred vajra speech.
Unraveling the verbal intricacies and revealing the hidden meaning of these songs, Guru Vajradhara began by discussing the general rise and decline of Tibetan Buddhism and Lord Marpa's historic role at the threshold between the old and new traditions of Secret Mantra, followed by a recounting of Lord Marpa's life story.
He emphasized that to follow in the footsteps of the ocean of Kagyu siddhas, practice must be regarded as essential, underscoring the crucial point that for the Dharma to become genuine, both teacher and student must embody complete, authentic qualities.
With profound pith instructions that inspired devotion in fortunate disciples, Guru Vajradhara particularly highlighted the glorious Marpa Chökyi Lodrö's unwavering confidence in the view, the crucial points of his meditation, his wondrous deeds, and the unique qualities of his meditative experiences and realizations. The transmission concluded auspiciously with the empowerment based on Lord Marpa's guru yoga, accompanied by the reading transmission of the sadhana.
