On the morning of April 30, 2026, coinciding with the auspicious celebration of the three holy events in the life of our supreme Teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni, the fourth buddha of this Fortunate Eon— his birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana — the monastic seat's tulkus, lamas, khenpos, monks, and nuns gathered in the great assembly courtyard of at Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat in India to offer prayers in commemoration of the Buddha's life and deeds through the ritual of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas, the Buddha's closest spiritual sons.
In the afternoon, Guru Vajradhara His Holiness Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, escorted by monks carrying incense, ascended his throne. Representatives of the University of Buddhist Sciences then offered him a mandala along with the sacred representations of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind, after which traditional ceremonial tea and sweet rice were served to all those gathered.
Following a discourse on the Five Auspicious Circumstances, Guru Vajradhara formally launched the yearbook of the university's second cohort in medicine and astrology. He then presented graduation certificates to those who had completed their studies, as well as special certificates to those who had successfully completed examinations on three Medical Tantras, and appointed the graduates to their respective positions.
The university's principal then delivered a brief address related to the ceremony. Guru Vajradhara subsequently bestowed guidance and advice beneficial for both this life and future lives, emphasizing the crucial importance of preserving and propagating the Tibetan language as a gateway to classical fields of knowledge such as poetry, medicine, and astrology; the need to respect karma and its results; the importance of cherishing one's vows and samayas; maintaining altruistic intention; and engaging in virtuous activities such as recitation and prayer free from attachment to results.
Finally, the ceremony concluded in an atmosphere of auspiciousness, as the graduates offered a long-life ceremony to Guru Vajradhara, expressing their aspiration for his longevity and the flourishing of his enlightened activities.
